Tubular Road Tires

Continental_Competition_Tubular_Bike_Tire_TN.jpgClinchers have made enormous inroads into high-end racing tires - they’re easier to mount, easier to repair, and cheaper. So why do the majority of pros still glue sew up tires - aka tubulars - to their wheels on their road bike? Three reasons: 1) They’re faster; 2) they’re more comfortable; and 3) they’re faster. All three  - okay, both - benefits result from sewing up the inner-tube inside the tire, turning the tire into like a hoop made from garden hose. Since there’s no bead to blow off the rim, tubulars can run much higher air pressure, meaning less rolling resistance. And since the tire supports the tube 360 degrees, the sidewalls can be much more supple instead of stout, meaning a better road feel. We offer racing and training tires from Continental, Vittoria, Tufo, and Hutchinson.
