Sigma Sport BC1909 STS Wireless Bike Computer

***Please note that if want the Sigma Data Center Software you will need to purchase that at Sigma's website http://www.sigmasport.com/us/startseite/

(See install video below)

This year at Eurobike, SIGMA SPORT proudly ushered in a new member of the TOPLINE 2009 series - the BC 1909 HR. This bike computer was fashioned to be an essential tool for the fitness oriented cyclist. You will instantly realize why it will be your new preferred training partner.

The BC 1909 HR is a triple wireless bicycle computer highlighting the most popular speed, cadence and heart rate functions presented in a sleek modern black design.  An elective docking station is offered for an additional price if desired. The docking station combined with the SIGMA DATA CENTER 2.0 software, enables the cycling computer data completely downloadable to your PC.
(Mac available Spring 2010)

The BC 1909 HR has a large, easy to read screen that displays current, average and maximum heart rate, current and average cadence, calories burned, and current temperature. in addition to the essential speed and distance functions. The bike computer also has a programmable target heart rate zone with a visual zone alarm. This new model maintains the keystone features like the back light, data storage when changing the battery, five time functions and simple menu navigation as the other high end SIGMA SPORT models. With it’s countless qualities, the BC 1909 HR will be an irreplaceable tool in your training arsenal.

SIGMA STS wireless transmission system provides greater mounting flexiblity with the BC 1909 HR. The transmission distance is 90cm allowing for front or rear wheel mounting on most bikes. There is also an optional retro-fit cable mount for those who want the high end functionality of the BC 1909 HR in a more traditional wired style.

An additional note worthy improvement to the BC 1909 HR is the new CR 2450 3V battery and low battery indicator. The stronger battery provides 3 times the capacity of previous models and allows for a year or more of use on each battery. The bike computer also displays a low battery indicator when either the computer or transmitter battery is reaching the end of it’s capacity.

The BC 1909 HR sets the standard for fitness and training oriented cyclists. With its numerous features and optional downloadablity, the BC 1909 HR is an unsupassable value.

  1. Ok but not great 3 Star Review

Posted by on 7th Apr 2011

I have been using this for about 3 months now. Bought it primarily for the HR monitor. The HR works well, no complaints there, however the cadence sensor pretty much doesnt work. At first the signal would only get picked up about half the time, and after about a month, the cadence never gets displayed. Didnt really both me cos i didnt need that, but would have been annoying if i wanted it.

The actual menu is ok, few little annoyances:
    1. Calorie count only works when HR monitor is being used. Other devices would give you a estimate based on weight, speed and distance.
    2. no scrolling thru stats.

If you dont need HR, I would go with a cheaper alternative.

  2. Packed full of features to help me move to the next level 5 Star Review

Posted by on 15th Jun 2010

I'm an entry level biker at age 47 and just purchased this little baby. It was recommended by bicycle everything's sales team and they were spot on. It was easy to install (search for youtube video about installation) and simple to use.

It includes a heart rate monitor, temperature, cadence, speed, stop watch, and all the heart tracking features you've used on LifeFitness exercise bikes in the hotels you stay in.

The nice thing about the unit is that it helps to push you to the next level of your fitness goals - it's like having a ridding buddy with you to keep you motivated and focused.

One feature that that unit doesn't have is a scrolling option that would continuously roll through different stats. I'm not complaining here.. because you CAN see 5-7 different feedbacks, but you have to push the button to track different items. That would have been a nice feature.

Other than that, I tried the other models and was most impressed with the easy of use, ease of readability (hey, I'm 40 and don't want to take cheaters with me on my road trips), and the fact that I can download the data to my computer and keep track of my results over a period of time.

Also, this site had the best price of all their competitors and their service was par excellent. I'll be my other goodies here just because they were so helpful with my order and dealing with my limited biking knowledge.

Hope this helps - ride safe and hard!
